Zia, Bangladeshi writer has won Britain’s oldest literary award, the James Tait Black award

Novelist Zia Haider Rahman , a Bangladeshi writer has won Britain’s oldest literary award,  the James Tait Black award for fiction 2015 with his debut novel. Novelist Zia Haider Rahman is now counted among the greatest people like DH Lawrence, Graham Greene, Angela Carter and Ian McEwan. The winner was announced at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on 17th August 2015. Zia released a fiction book, In the Light of What We Know in 2014 to international critical acclaim.

“Zia Haider Rahman addresses a whole range of issues – the war in Afghanistan, the rise of Muslim fundamentalism and the banking crisis. Moreover, he also explores problematic areas of politics and finance, which are often exiled from the pages of fiction, immersing his readers, dauntingly but comprehensibly.   • He worked as an investment banker forGoldman Sachs in New York before practicing as a corporate lawyer and then as an international human rights lawyer focusing on corruption.
  • He has also worked as an anti-corruption activist for Transparency International.
