YC Modi appointed Additional Director in CBI

Senior IPS officer YC Modi has been appointed as Additional Director in CBI.  The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the induction of Modi, a 1984 batch IPS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, as Additional Director in the CBI. It should be noted that YC Modi was a part of a Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed 2002 Gujarat riots cases.  Modi, who is presently working as Additional Director General of Police in Shillong, was included in the SIT in August 2010 and remained part of the team till July 2012.

YC Modi has been appointed in place of Archana Ramasundaram, who was recently moved out of the CBI and appointed as Director, National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Another IPS officer Rupak Kumar Dutta has been appointed as Special Director in the CBI. Dutta, a 1981 batch Karnataka cadre IPS officer, is presently working as Additional Director in the agency. He has been associated with the investigations of a number of sensitive matters including second generation spectrum (2G) scam case.
