Western & Southern Open Title Winners : Roger Federer and Serena Williams

Roger Federer avenged his Wimbledon final loss to Novak Djokovic by beating the Serbian 7-6(1) 6-3 to capture his second consecutive Western & Southern Open title. Federer easily handled his service games throughout the match and employed an attacking style that gave Djokovic fits. Federer remained perfect in Cincinnati finals, winning an unprecedented seventh championship. The win will also give Federer a jolt of confidence going into the US Open where he will be seeking a sixth title. Federer will now move into second spot in the world rankings.

Defending champion Serena Williams finished her last US Open tune-up in style by beating Romanian third seed Simona Halep 6-3 7-6(5) to win the Western & Southern Open. It marked the fifth title of the year for Williams following wins at the Australian Open, in Miami and at the French Open and Wimbledon. The win was also the 69th career title for Williams.
