Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari  reached Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.He was received by Head of Presidential Admin, Mongolia at the airport.

Vice-President Ansari is leading the India delegation for two-day 11th Asia Europe Meeting- ASEM-Summit . The ASEM summit is a unique platform to bridge the two continents for constructive partnership and exchange through political dialogue, economic collaboration and socio- cultural exchanges.

• The Vice President will hold bilateral meetings with President of Mongolia, the Speaker of Parliament of Mongolia and Prime Minster of Mongolia during the special lunch.

• The multilateral biannual summit will focus on multidimensional inter connectivity between Asia and Europe.

• The theme for the summit is “20 Years of ASEM: Partnership for the Future through Connectivity”.

• According to the World Trade Organisation statistics, global trade growth has slowed significantly since 2008, from an average of over 7 per cent per annum between 1990 and 2008, to less than 3 per cent between 2009 and 2015.

• ASEM’s coming into being was a natural response to the dramatic changes in the global political and economic landscape in the mid-1990s following the end of the Cold War, at a time when Asia was emerging as a world economic powerhouse.
