Veteran filmmaker IV Sasi honoured with J.C. Daniel Award

Celebrated filmmaker IV Sasi has been chosen for the prestigious JC Daniel award for 2014, instituted by Kerala government, in recognition of his sterling contributions to the Malayalam film industry. The honour, which comprises a purse of Rs one lakh and a citation, is hosted by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. A multiple national and state award winner, Sasi has directed around 150 films in a number of languages over an illustrious career spanning four decades.

A panel chaired by eminent author M T Vasudevan Nair selected Sasi for the honour. Veteran actor Madhu, producer P V Gangadharan, Cultural Department secretary Rani George and Chalachitra Academy chairman T Rajivnath were the other panelists.

The J C Daniel award is a state Government honour conferred annually in recognition of an individual’s outstanding achievements and contributions to Malayalam cinema.
