The Union Cabinet has approved an agreement between India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the French civil aviation authority to implement technical cooperation programme for standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DGCA and Direction Generale de l’Aviation Civile or DGAC, would be effective for a term of four years.

• International Civil Aviation Organisation is a specialized agency of the United Nations.
• It codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth.
• Its headquarters are located in the Quartier International of Montreal, Canada.
• ICAO defines the protocols for air accident investigation followed by transport safety authorities in countries signatory to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
• The Air Navigation Commission (ANC) is the technical body within ICAO. The Commission is composed of 19 Commissioners, nominated by the ICAO’s contracting states, and appointed by the ICAO Council.
