The Indian Council of Cultural Relations and the High Commission of India organised the conference in collaboration with the Department of the Study of Religions at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Experts and historians from India and Britain got together for the two-day sessions which included aspects such as ‘Bhagvad Gita and Yoga’, ‘Impact of Bhagvad Gita on Modern Sanskrit Writings’ and ‘The Bhagvad Gita  Timeless Values for Today.’

Powerful Quotes of Bhagvad Gita
  • Pleasure from the senses seems like nectar at first, but it is bitter as poison in the end.
  • No one should abandon duties because he sees defects in them. Every action, every activity, is surrounded by defects as a fire is surrounded by smoke.
  • It is better to strive in one’s own dharma than to succeed in the dharma of another. Nothing is ever lost in following one’s own dharma. But competition in another’s dharma breeds fear and insecurity.
  • Abandon all attachment to the results of action and attain supreme peace.
  • Calmness, gentleness, silence, self-restraint, and purity: these are the disciplines of the mind.
