TPP Nair,SP Misra and Romeo James chosen for Dhyan chand Award

The selection committee on 17th August 2015 recommended former India volleyball captain TPP Nair, Davis Cup captain SP Misra and hockey goalkeeper Romeo James for this year’s Dhyan Chand award.

Misra is still associated with tennis and is the incumbent chairman of the current All India Tennis Association (AITA) selection committee. MC Muthiah (multiple decathlon National champion) and Jai Prakash Kangar (1984 Olympian wrestler) are among the prominent personality.

About Dhyan Chand Award
  • It is India’s highest award for lifetime achievement in sports and games.
  • It is given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
  • The award is named after the legendary Indian hockey player Dhyan Chand.
  • Established in 2002
  • The award carries a cash prize of INR 500,000, a plaque and a scroll of honour.
