India’s supercomputer Bhaskara is going to help meteorologists in conducting research and development. The Super Computer will be dedicated to the country on June 2 by Union Minister for Earth Sciences Harsh Vardhan. It will assist the meteorologists in cases like the prediction of weather, forecast of a tropical cyclone, heavy rainfall and cloud burst events, etc.
The present augmentation shall enable Earth System Science Organisation – National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (ESSO-NCMRWF) to provide high-resolution 10 days global weather forecast. With the commissioning of ‘Bhaskara’, the overall ESSO-High Performance Computing facility will have a peak computing power of 1.14 petaflops.
This is a great advancement in weather prediction for the country as unpredictability seems to be happening a lot due to the change in the environment, with weather forecasting not being as accurate as it has been previously, many areas are experiencing problems with crops and home protection. In other areas of the world, there have been progressions there too with the use of a remote weather station as well as other scientific equipment, helping researchers monitor and correlate data that can help them see what is happening. These gadgets are also used by those passionate about weather monitoring and forecasting. They are committed to finding the best tools, by checking reviews and comparisons and learning about the constantly changing faces of Mother Nature.
