Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden may soon become world’s first city to get the ultra high speed 5G mobile network by 2018. Swedish-Finnish telecom operator TeliaSonera, and Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson will jointly roll out 5G network at Stockholm and Tallinn, which is in Estonia. Stockholm and Tallinn are two of the most connected cities in the world and now we’ll take them to the next level. 5G will create completely new innovations, ecosystems and great services to our customers. 5G will also take the Internet of Things (IoT) to a new level.
It is being expected that the new 5G network will be dedicated for expanding Internet of Things (IoT) projects, which has already been hailed as the next big thing. Although Indian Govt. has already released their first policy document pertaining to Internet of Things expansion, speed and accessibility of high end electronic gadgets limit it’s scope under current circumstances.
As per technical experts, rollout of 5G in Europe can unleash a new wave of innovation and high end technology which has only been imagined so far. For instance, 5G speed can easily support self-driving, battery operated cars, besides artificial intelligence enabled robots who can work deep under mines and forests.
Ericsson and TeliaSonera have stated that the new model of 5G would help rural areas and remote, interior locations to get faster, easier and cheaper Internet.
