Sjostrom breaks women’s 100m butterfly record

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom breaks a world record (55.74) in the women’s 100m butterfly swimming event at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan(Russia).

Canada’s Katerine Savard was second, with China’s Chen Xinyi third.

 

About 16th FINA World Championships
The 16th FINA World Championships 2015 are held in kazan, russia from 24 july to august 2015. Russia is hosting this event for the first time. The number of participating national teams (190), athletes (2400) & the number of medals (75) are most ever amongst these championships.

Competitions are held in six sports (swimming, open water swimming, diving & high diving, synchronized swimming and water polo) in three main competition venues.

In 16th FINA World Championships first time included mixed-pair (female-male) duets in the synchronized swimming. This event is also one of the qualifying events for the 2016 Summer Olympics. This is the first time the World Aquatics Championships partially overlaps with the FINA World Masters Championships.
