Shah Rukh Khan will be the brand ambassador of Mukesh Ambani’s telecom venture Reliance Jio, which will launch the 4G services on December 27 2015. This event will only for Reliance employees.
RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani in June had said that beta programme (trials) of Reliance Jio “will be upgraded into commercial operations around December of this (2015) year” and “financial year 2016—17 will be the first full year of commercial operations for Jio”. Later in October, RIL said financial year “2016—17 is projected to be the first year of commercial operations for RJIL”
Jio was expected to launch its fourth generation wireless broadband service towards the end of 2015, but this had not happened as sources claimed that Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani wanted a “perfect launch”. With Jio’s soft launch on Sunday, the network will be tested and validated by the 100,000 employees of Reliance.
Even though Jio is moving towards a full-fledged commercial launch in March 2016, employees are using all the digital applications already, including entertainment applications and mobile wallet. Employees are able to buy Lyf handsets within the campus at a discounted rate.
The service will be available free to employees till the commercial launch happens in March/April.
