Saurabh Kumar, an IFS officer, appointed as the next Indian Ambassador to Iran on 25th May 2015. Keeping aside the US objections, India had earlier this month signed an agreement with Iran for the development of the strategically important Chabahar port which will provide India sea-land access route to Afghanistan bypassing Pakistan.
