Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has appointed K Satish Reddy as the new chairman of the National Safety Council (NSC). He will replace Venu Srinivasan, who was appointed in July 2011. As the chairman of the NSC, Mr. Reddy will oversee its functioning to generate and develop initiatives on Safety, Health and Environment at the national level.

About National Safety Council
- NSC is the main non-profit making body at the national level in India.
- It was established on 4th March 1996.
- It was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 and Societies Registration Act, 1860.
- It was set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Labour and Employment.
- Body’s main function is to conduct specialised workshops and courses, carry out risk assessments and also conduct safety audits and shall facilitates awareness camps in organisations

- Reddy is an Indian business executive, and Chairman of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.
- Reddy holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, and an M.S. in Medicinal Chemistry from Purdue University.
