The recent elections for the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) were won by Sanjay Singh, who is a well-known figure in Brij Bhushan’s group and is now the vice president of the UP Wrestling Association.
He got 40 votes, while Anita Sheoran only got seven. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is based in New Delhi and is in charge of wrestling in the country.
Sanjay Singh’s Path to Leadership
Sanjay Singh, who is from Varanasi and is connected to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), used to be on the WFI’s executive council.
He has been the joint secretary of the national union since 2019. In addition to that, he is Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association.
Sheoran’s Panel Had a Range of Results
Anita Sheoran’s group lost the race for president, but they did win the very important job of secretary general. A former RSPB secretary named Prem Chand Lochab beat Darshan Lal by a vote count of 27 to 19.
Also, Devender Singh Kadian, who supported the striking wrestlers, beat I D Nanavati by a score of 32–15 to become senior vice president.
A bit about Anita Sheoran
He was born on November 24, 1984, in the village of Dhani Mahu in the Bhiwani area of Haryana. As a woman, she won a gold medal in the 67 kg freestyle event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
She has consistently shown her skill by winning many medals at the Asian Wrestling Championships and the Commonwealth Wrestling Championships.
At the moment, Sheoran works for the Haryana Police as an inspector.
Brij Bhushan Camp’s Victory
The Brij Bhushan camp showed how strong it was by winning all four vice president posts. Jai Prakash (37), Asit Kumar Saha (42), Kartar Singh (44), and N Phoni (38), in that order, scored the winning runs for Delhi, West Bengal, Punjab, and Manipur.
It’s interesting that Mohan Yadav, the new chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, only got five votes in the vice president race. This shows how powerful the Brij Bhushan faction really is.
Key position of treasurer secured
Satyapal Singh Deshwal, who is from Uttarakhand and is part of the Brij Bhushan camp, beat Dushyant Sharma, who is from Jammu and Kashmir, by a huge 34–12 vote majority to become the new treasurer.
It’s worth noting that all five of the newly chosen executive committee members are from the camp of the retiring chief.
