The Government of India has appointed Sanjay Gupta as the Chairman and Managing Director of Engineers India Ltd (EIL). Previously he was the Director (Commercial) in EIL. The EIL is the state-owned engineering and consultancy, procurement and construction ( EPC) company in hydrocarbons and petrochemicals.

Gupta replaced A K Purwaha who got retired on May 31′ 2015. Sanjay Gupta is an Engineering graduate from IIT Roorkee. He has more than 34 years of experience in the company ranging from planning to implementation of mega grassroot projects in the refineries and petrochemical sector.

• Engineers India Limited (EIL) is a Navratna PSU of the GOI under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
• EIL was set up in 1965 to provide engineering and related technical services for petroleum refineries and other industrial projects.
