The prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Governance for this year has been conferred upon the ‘Maharatna’ firm, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
- Set up by the Institute of Directors, India, the award was received by Ashwini Kumar, CEO of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on behalf of SAIL during the 16th London Global Convention on Corporate Governance and Sustainability held in London recently.
SAIL was presented the award on account of its exemplary performance in the field of corporate governance that is for balancing the interests of all the stakeholders of the company — shareholders, management, customers, suppliers, financiers, government and the community.

SAIL is one of the largest state-owned steel in India and one of the top steel makers in world. SAIL is the 24th largest steel producer in the world. It was founded in 1954 and incorporated in 1973.

The Golden Globe Award Instituted by the Institute of Directors (IoD) in 1991 ,is an American accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented are a major part of the film industry’s awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards.
The 73rd Golden Globe Awards, honoring the best in film and television in 2015, were broadcast live on January 10, 2016. Ricky Gervais hosted the show for the fourth time.
