Sahitya Akademi Awards 2023 Winners

The Sahitya Akademi Awards for 2023 have been revealed. These awards honor great works of literature in a number of Indian languages.

The winners include Tamil author Rajasekaran (Devibharathi) for his book “Neervazhi Padooum,” Telugu author T. Patanjali Sastry for his collection of short stories “Rameshwaram Kaakulu Marikonni Kathalu,” and Malayalam author E.V. Ramakrishnan for his study of literature called “Malayala Novelinte Deshakalangal.”

Types of Awards: The Sahitya Akademi Awards honor nine poem collections, six novels, five collections of short stories, three collections of essays, and one literary study.
Approval: The awards were chosen by a distinguished group of 24 speakers, and the Executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi gave their approval.
The awards are for books that came out for the first time between January 2017 and December 31, 2021.
Others who won: Some well-known winners in different languages are Neelum Saran Gour for her novel in English, Sanjeev for his novel in Hindi, Lakshmisha Tolpadi for her writings in Kannada, Swapnamay Chakrabarti for her novel in Bengali, and others.
Presentation Ceremony: The awards will be given out at a ceremony on March 12, 2024. They will come in the form of a casket with an engraved copper plate, a shawl, and ₹1,000,000 in cash.
Sahitya Akademi: The Sahitya Akademi was founded on March 12, 1954. It is an independent group under the Union Culture Ministry whose job is to promote literature in Indian languages.
