Sachin Tendulkar’s autobiography “Playing it my Way” has won the Crossword Book of the Year Award (Autobiography category). Penned by noted cricket historian and writer Boria Majumdar, the book which chronicled the life and career of Tendulkar in his own words, smashed several records in the publishing world.The book has been acclaimed by former players and fans who have been given a rare glimpse into the life of man who captured the imagination of the cricketing world for a quater of a century.
It had also entered the Limca Book of Records for being the best-selling adult hardback across both fiction and non-fiction categories. The book also holds the record in retail value terms having logged up Rs. 13.51 crore with its cover price being Rs. 899.
Tendulkar, easily the most celebrated cricketer in the modern era, retired after an emotional farewell series against the West Indies in November 2013. A year later, Tendulkar in association with his close friend, Boria, launched the much-awaited autobiography.
The seeds for the iconic autobiography were sown after Boria managed to convince Tendulkar on the need to leave a lasting legacy for his millions of fans and that his inspirational story needed to be told so the world could remember it 100 years later.
