Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar along with other four sports persons on 15 April 2015 was inducted into the prestigious Laureus Sports Academy.
The other sportsmen name are:
- Yao Ming– Retired Chinese professional basketball player.
- Tegla Loroupe– Kenyan long-distance runner.
- Li Xiaopeng– Chinese gymnast.
- Yang Yang– Former Chinese short track speed skater Yang Yang.

- Sachin is one of the best former Indian cricketer.
- He took up cricket at the age of eleven, made his Test debut on 15 November 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi at the age of sixteen.
- He is the only player to have scored one hundred international centuries.
- In his entire career, he had played for India in 200 Tests, 463 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty20 International.
- In 200 Test matches he had scored 15,921 runs at an average of 53.78. It comprised of 51 centuries and 68 half centuries.
