Pfizer India has announced the appointment of S Sridhar as the company’s managing director with effect from March 18 for a term of five years.
- Sridhar is a chartered accountant by profession with over 20 years of experience.
- He has served as Pfizer chief financial officer for seven years, and was appointed as ED in May 2013.
- He has also concurrently led the company’s distribution function for three years, and is at present heading Pfizer’s anti-infective, cardiovascular and ophthalmology businesses.
- Aijaz Tobaccowalla, the erstwhile Pfizer India head, was offered a new global role with US-based Pfizer Inc, last year.
- At Pfizer, Sridhar has led a number of strategic initiatives that have significantly expanded the company’s business footprint in the country.
- He is also responsible for developing the integrated company’s ‘institutional business‘ strategy.
- This resulted in a strong Pfizer product portfolio presence in major institutions across the country.
- He also led the development of the company’s multi-channel marketing strategy.
