India’s third largest IT firm, Wipro has announced the appointment of Founder Azim Premji’s elder son Rishad Premji on the company’s board. Currently, Mr. Rishad is the Chief Strategy Officer and he is taking care of the merger and acquisitions functions of Wipro.

- He was the brain behind the setting up of Wipro Ventures, a VC fund, which has a corpus of $100 million.
- As he is going to be on Company’s board, he would also be overseeing technology office, investor and government relations and Wipro ventures.

- Wipro veteran Suresh Senapaty retired in March 2015, leaving a vacancy on the company’s board.
- Wipro has clarified that Mr. Azim Premji would continue to be the Executive Chairman of the company.
- Earlier this year, Wipro also appointed Tata Consultancy Services veteran Abid Ali Neemuchwala as its chief operating officer.
