A famous Urdu artist named Munawwar Rana died in Lucknow at the age of 71 from a heart attack. He had been sick for a long time with throat cancer, kidney problems, and heart problems.
He was getting care at the SGPGIMS in Lucknow, which stands for the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

Rana was born on November 26, 1952, in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. He was famous for making important contributions to Urdu writing and poetry.
He was especially praised for his ghazals, which are a type of poetry with two lines that rhyme and a theme.
He used easy-to-understand words like Hindi and Awadhi in his poetry instead of Persian and Arabic so that it would appeal to Indian listeners more. “Maa,” a classic ghazal poem about the good qualities of a mother, was one of his most well-known works.

Rana won a lot of awards throughout his work. He won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in 2014 for his book of poems called “Shahdaba.”
But he gave the award back about a year later, saying that society was becoming less tolerant. Besides the Ameer Khusro Award, he has also won the Mir Taqi Mir Award, the Ghalib Award, the Dr. Zakir Hussain Award, and the Saraswati Samaj Award.
