A major state-owned company, Power Grid Corporation, announced on January 1 that its leadership would be changing in a big way. Ravindra Kumar Tyagi has been named the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He takes over from Sreekant Kandikuppa, who quit when he turned 60.

That’s why Tyagi, who is 57 years old, is so good at his new job. He went to Punjab Engineering College (PEC) in Chandigarh and got a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He got his M.Tech in Energy Studies from the well-known IIT Delhi to improve his skills. As a “Fulbright Scholar” from Carnegie Mellon University in the USA, he has even more intellectual credentials.
Tyagi has worked in the power industry for more than 33 years and has held a number of important roles in central public sector undertakings (CPSUs).
His time at POWERGRID is marked by his ability to handle work from a variety of fields, such as Asset Management, Engineering, and Business Development, both in the United States and other countries.
Tyagi was the Director (Operations) at POWERGRID before becoming the CMD. He was very important to the company’s operations in this job, which helped it grow and be successful.
It is especially impressive how he runs POWERGRID’s North Eastern Region.
Tyagi is not only an experienced worker, but he is also involved in the academic world. He has written more than 50 technical papers that have been delivered at national and international conferences.
