Rajasthan government is planning to launch a pension scheme for the labourers who have crossed the age limit of 60 years. The proposal has been prepared by the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and will be presented before the board meeting scheduled next month.
- As per the proposal, labour department will transfer Rs 400 crore to LIC and from which labourers registered with the building and other construction welfare board (BOCW) will receive pension of Rs 1,000 per month. According the officials, LIC has been working on the same lines in some other states and was willing to launch it in Rajasthan too.
- “The scheme is in the pipeline. To carry out the modalities, a committee has been formed which have members from finance, labour, banks and LIC. Once they submit their report, it will be presented before board. If everything is cleared then we are expecting to complete the formalities before next month” said an official of the department.
