R Seshasayee appointed non-executive chairman of Infosys

Ashok Leyland vice chairman Mr R Seshasayee has been named as the new non-executive chairman of Infosys, second-largest software services firm. He is replacing private banker KV Kamath, who has been appointed president of the newly-created $100-billion BRICS Bank. Seshasayee has been an Independent Director on the Board since January 2011 and is the chairperson of the Audit Committee. He started his career with Hindustan Lever in 1971 and joined Ashok Leyland in 1976, where he became executive director in 1983 and MD in 1998. Seshasayee has also been the chairman of IndusInd Bank since 2007.

After retiring as the CEO of ICICI Bank in April 2009, Kamath got appointed as the chairman of Infosys, replacing its founder NR Narayana Murthy in August 2011.
