First Three Years → 8%. Next Four Years → 12%. Last Five Years → 15%.

In the question, it is given that Shiva paid Rs. 12500 at the end of TWELVE YEARS. So 15% INTEREST RATE was paid for the last FIVE years.

Total SI is Rs 12500.

Let the sum borrowed by Z.

(Z x 3 x 8)/100   +   (Z x 4 x 12)/100   + (Z x 15 x 5)/100 = 12500

24 Z/100 + 48 Z/100   + 75 Z/100 = 12500

147 Z/100   = 12500

Z = 8503.40

Answer – Sum Borrowed = Rs 8503.40

8X/100 = 75
X = 937.5

Answer – Sum = Rs 937.50
