Pankaj Munjal – new CMD of Hero Motors Group

Hero Motors Group  has elevated Pankaj Munjal as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). Pankaj Munjal succeeds Om Prakash Munjal, who led the Ludhiana-based company for more than 60 years. Om Prakash Munjal will now be the Chairman Emeritus of the company. The Hero Motors Group comprises cycle major Hero Cycles, auto parts manufacturing companies — Hero Motors Ltd, ZF Hero Chassis Systems and Munjal Kiriu Industries — hospitality arm Munjal Hospitality and luxury home decor products company Oma Livings.

  • Hero MotoCorp  is the largest two wheeler manufacturer in India.
  • Hero Honda started in 1984 as a joint venture between Hero Cycles of India and Honda of Japan.
  •  In 2010, when Honda decided to move out of the joint venture, Hero Group bought the shares held by Honda.
  • Subsequently, in August 2011 the company was renamed Hero MotoCorp with a new corporate identity.
  • Hero MotoCorp has four manufacturing facilities based at Dharuhera, Neemrana and Gurgaon in Haryana and at Haridwar in Uttarakhand.
