  1. Indore to get RS.50 crore Information Technology park

In a bid to make the city an infotech hub on the lines of Bengaluru, Madhya Pradesh minister Rajendra Shukla laid the foundation stone for  Rs 50-crore IT park here. The park, spread over 2 lakh square feet, will be built at a cost of Rs 50 crore. The foundation stone was laid on the eve of Global Investors Summit (GIS) in the city. A deadline of 18 months has been set to commission the new IT park.

  1. Andhra declares 245 mandals in 7 districts as drought-hit

Andhra Pradesh Government declared 245 mandals in sevendistricts of the state as drought-affected during the Kharif agricultural season because of deficient rainfall during the southwest monsoon period. As against the normal 556 mm, the state received 533.8 mm of rainfall between June 1 and September 30 this year, marking a deviation of minus four (-4) per cent. In 2015, the deviation in rainfall was -5.4 per cent, according to Disaster Management Commissioner K Dhananjaya Reddy.

  1. Bihar to start new public feedback programme

Having discontinued “Janata Darbar”, the Bihar government is set to introduce a “Lok Samvad” programme in an effort to get public feedback and suggestions to help improve its different programmes. The Bihar Cabinet   gave its nod to “Lok Samvad” under the Cabinet Secretariat department. It is set to start from December. The new programme would be held Mondays, preferably on two or three Mondays a month, depending on CM Nitish Kumar’s availability in Patna.

  1. NABARD sanctions RS.19k cr loans for 50 irrigation projects

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) said it has sanctioned Rs 19,702 crore loan to National Water Development Agency (NWDA) for 50 irrigation projects. The loan is sanctioned under long Term Irrigation Fund (LTIF), announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during the Budget 2016-17. This would help create additional irrigation potential of 39.14 lakh hectares under these projects in 11 states, Nabard said in a statement.

  1. Exhibition showcasing Indians’ history launched in Singapore

An exhibition on 200-year-old history of Indians showcasing early days of cattle traders, laundry men and brick-makers has been launched in Singapore Trade and industry minister S Iswaran yesterday launched the exhibition at the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) in the “Little India” precinct. The exhibition has over 100 new artefacts including items belonging to the Hindu temples and mosques in Little India as well as old photographs dating back as far as the 1890s.

  1. ICC quadruples funding for 2017 Women’s World Cup

Cricket officials have promised to give  women cricketers equivalent travel rights to their male counterparts during the Women’s World Cup in London next year. The decision is a shift of policy since the World Twenty20 in India earlier this year when ICC paid for all the men’s teams to fly business class, while the women’s teams flew economy, leaving Australia as the only nation to pay independently for an upgrade.

  1. Sakshi to skip National Wrestling Championship

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)issued a press release informing about the National Wrestling Championship for men and women to be held in Gonda, Uttar Praedesh. On the top of the list, they mentioned Sakshi Malik’s name as one of the participants. However, it seems that the Olympic bronze medallist was not consulted for the event.
