- Kalidas Samman to be given to theatre artists Raj Bisaria, BanshiKaul
Eminent theatre artist Shri Raj Bisaria of Lucknow and renowned theatre artist Shri Banshi Kaul, active in Bhopal-New Delhi will be awarded with Rashtriya Kalidas Samman, established by Madhya Pradesh government for the field of theatre. Governor Shri Omprakash Kohli will present the awards in the award ceremony to be held on November 10 in Ujjain.

- Rajasthan plans cow welfare fund, to ask staff to donate
Rajasthan government is planning to launch a pension scheme for the labourers who have crossed the age limit of 60 years. The proposal has been prepared by the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and will be presented before the board meeting scheduled next month. As per the proposal, labour department will transfer Rs 400 crore to LIC.

- Govt to open Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Kendra in every Parliamentary Constituency
The Centre has decided to open Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Kendrain every Parliamentary Constituency to impart skill training to the people and make them employable. Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, through these centres, a standard will be created to enhance the skill level of trainees so that they could earn more money.

- Uttarakhand High Court orders all hill stations & glaciers to be declared eco-sensitive
Uttarakhand High Court ordered all hill stations and glaciers in the state to be declared as eco-sensitive within three months and put a ban on all construction within 25 km radius of the glaciers. It also directed all municipal boards and nagar panchayats along the Ganges and the Yamuna to set up sewage treatment plants within six months besides asking the government to check water quality every 24 hours.

After the ‘Scooty’ scheme for girls, Jammu and Kashmir government announced the launch of All Terrain Bike (ATB) programme for meritorious boys of lower economic strata. The state government has, on the initiative of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, announced the launch of All Terrain Bike (ATB) scheme for meritorious boys on the pattern of Scooty Scheme for the girl students

- Maharashtra government relaxes ban on construction around defence lands
Maharashtra government issued a circular relaxing the ban on construction activity around defence lands in state. “GoM issues a circular in accordance with the guidelines by Dy Dir (Lands), Ministry of Defence, for relaxing construction ban around defence lands. This circular has now reduced the restricted zone to just 10 metres from defence establishments and installations.

- 500 amd Rs.1000 Currency notes stand abolished from 08 November 2016 midnight
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 09 september 2016 evening announced that all Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes will become illegal tender from the intervening midnight of November 8. This means, from 12:01 am of November 9, none of these notes will be accepted anywhere as legal money.
The move is believed to have been taken to curtail black money as well as combat the menace of forged currency notes. You can read in full detail what the prime minister had to say about why the step was taken in the full text of his speech.

- Ten UK companies to aid Make in India, Skill India programmes
Ten UK-based companies have pledged to invest 29.29 million pound to train about 20 lakh people in India by 2020. “10 UK companies have committed to support India’s Make in India and Skill India initiatives by enhancing skills to global standards and giving the trainees greater employment opportunities in India and at a global level,” UK India Business Council (UKIBC).

- Siddaramaiah invites UK to forge partnership in creation of smart cities
Karnataka’s chief minister Siddaramaiah asked British Prime Minister Theresa May to relax visa rules for Indian technology professionals saying that the UK can actually reduce migration while reaping economic benefits by allowing workers on short-term job visits. he also pointed that Bengaluru-headquartered firms such as Wipro, Infosys, Biocon, Microlabs and Dynamatic Technologies were generating jobs in the UK, contributing to the local economy.

- Henri Kontinen and John Peers win 2016 BNP Paribas Masters Doubles title
Henri Kontinen and John Peers have won their first Masters 1000 title together this week in Paris at the BNP Paribas Masters. Kontinen and Peers made it all the way after beating Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the final. Kontinen and Peers, the unseeded duo in Paris, overcame the number one seeds Herbert and Mahut in a three-set battle 6-4 3-6 10-6.

OBITUARY
- Former J&K Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma passes away
Former Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma died after a prolonged illness. He will be cremated at Shastri Nagar. The six-time legislator also served as speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He served as Deputy Chief Minister in the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led PDP-Congress coalition government and later served as Health Minister in 2006, when Ghulam Nabi Azad took over as Chief Minister of J&K.
