- Ratnesh Kumar appointed MD and CEO of BoB Capital Markets
State-run Bank of Baroda has said it has appointed Ratnesh Kumar as managing director and CEO of its investment banking subsidiary, BOB Capital Markets. Kumar has 23 years of experience and has held key leadership roles, last being the managing director, head- cash equities India and CEO of Standard Chartered Securities India

- RBI appoints M Rajeshwar Rao as Executive Director
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed M. Rajeshwar Rao as the executive director of the central bank, replacing G. Mahalingam, who took voluntary retirement from the central bank. Rao will look after the departments of statistics and information management, financial markets operations department and international department, the central bank said on its website.
- Vinod Rai appointed as Chairman of Fund Trustee and Advisory Commission of Kerala
Kerala has appointed in former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai as chairman of the Fund Trustee and Advisory Commission (FTAC) to ensure that the funds of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) are properly utilised and the interest of investors is protected.

- Kalidas Samman to be given to theatre artists Raj Bisaria, BanshiKaul
Eminent theatre artist Shri Raj Bisariaof Lucknow and renowned theatre artist Shri Banshi Kaul, active in Bhopal-New Delhi will be awarded with Rashtriya Kalidas Samman, established by Madhya Pradesh government for the field of theatre. Governor Shri Omprakash Kohli will present the awards in the award ceremony to be held on November 10 in Ujjain.

INDIAN AFFAIRS
- 1st International Agro Bio-Diversity congress inaugurated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurates the first International Agro bio-diversity Congress in the national capital where 900 delegates from 60 countries will discuss conservation of genetic resources. The conference, to be held on November 6-9, is being organised by the Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources and Biodiversity International, a CGIAR Research Centre headquartered in Rome, Italy.

- Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan starts
Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) launched by the Union Government. Under this scheme, free health check-ups to pregnant women at government health centres and hospitals will be provided. Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda announced the scheme in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the program back in June 2016 during his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat.

- Demchok mission of Indian Army successfully completed
The Indian army has successfully completed its task of laying an irrigation pipeline in the Demchok region of Eastern Ladakh. The project was being conducted under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to link the villages in the region with a hot spring. This is the first time since 2014 when the Chinese Army had come deep inside the Indian territory in Demchok in protest against an ongoing irrigation project.

- Narendra Modi set to be mascot of ‘Incredible India’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to be the mascot of the “Incredible India” campaign with the Tourism Ministry finally deciding to do away with plans to rope in any Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, for the role which was lying vacant after the ouster of Aamir Khan earlier this year.

- Odisha government signs MoU to with Software Technology Parks of India to open four centers
The Odisha government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to set up four STPI centres in the state. The STPI centres would come up in Angul, Jajpur, Koraput (Jeypore) and Sambalpur. With these four, Odisha will have eight centres of the total 55 in the country.

- Chhattisgarh launches campaign “Lakshya Bhagirathi” to complete irrigation projects
Chhattisgarh government has launched a campaign to complete the irrigation projects that could not be completed. Under the campaign called “Lakshya Bhagirathi”, the water resources department had identified 108 projects that could not be completed. For the last three decades, the projects were pending for required clearances.

- Union Environment Ministry constitutes four-member team for conservation of Loktak Lake
The ministry of environment, forests and climate change is sending a four-member team to Loktak lake in Manipur to suggest steps to be initiated for declaring Loktak Lake a Unesco World Heritage Site.The team will be on a three-day visit to the lake from Monday and hold discussions with the state government, agencies concerned and other stakeholders.

- Future Group acquires AP CM Chandrababu Naidu’s Heritage retail businesses
Future Retail has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the retail, agriculture, and bakery businesses of Heritage Foods in an all-stock deal.Heritage Foods, owned by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, will get 3.65% stake in Future Retail worth of Rs 295 crore. With this deal, Heritage will leverage the strength of Future Retail to expand the market for its dairy products across India, Heritage Foods director Nara Lokesh said.

- Cyient acquires UK-based geospatial solutions firm Blom Aerofilms
Hyderabad-based IT and engineering services company Cyient India Limited announced that it would acquire UK-based ground surveying and digital mapping solutions provider Blom Aerofilms Limited. It has signed a definitive agreement with Blom AS, Norway for the acquisition of its UK-based subsidiary.

- November 06 2016: International Day for Preventing Exploitation of Environment in War and Armed Conflict Day
- The International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict was observed globally on 6 November 2016.
- On 5 November 2001, the UN General Assembly declared 6 November of each year as the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict through resolution A/RES/56/4.
- On 27 May 2016, the United Nations Environment Assembly adopted resolution UNEP/EA.2/Res.15 to recognize the role of healthy ecosystems and sustainably managed resources in reducing the risk of armed conflict.
- It also committed itself towards the full implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals listed in General Assembly resolution 70/1 entitled Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
FOREIGN RELATIONS
- India, UK ink MoUs on IPR, ease of doing business
India and the UK have signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on increasing cooperation in intellectual property rights (IPRs) and ease of doing business. Both the MoUs were exchanged in the presence of Prime MinistersNarendra Modi and his British counterpart Theresa May. The MoU on IPR was inked between the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) and the Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom (UKIPO).

- India and Britain sign two agreements
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his British counterpart Theresa May in the national capital during her 3-day India visit and stressed the need for Britain’s comprehensive participation in boosting peace and prosperity in the two countries and the world. Two MoUs were signed during the high level engagement and the UK was in voice with India against those who perpetrate and foster terrorism.

- Henri Kontinen and John Peers win 2016 BNP Paribas Masters Doubles title
Henri Kontinen and John Peers have won their first Masters 1000 title together this week in Paris at the BNP Paribas Masters. Kontinen and Peers made it all the way after beating Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the final.

OBITUARY
- Former J&K Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma passes away
Former Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma died after a prolonged illness. He will be cremated at Shastri Nagar. The six-time legislator also served as speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He served as Deputy Chief Minister in the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led PDP-Congress coalition government and later served as Health Minister in 2006, when Ghulam Nabi Azad took over as Chief Minister of J&K.
