- Jackie Chan conferred with honorary Oscar
Jackie Chan has been awarded an honorary Oscar in recognition of an illustrious career spanning over five decades. Accepting the accolade (12 November) at the annual Governors Awards, the 62-year-old recounted how he first saw the Oscar statuette at Sylvester Stallone’s house 23-years-ago, and dreamed that one day he too would be the proud recipient of the coveted golden prize.

- Indian-origin humanitarian gets Global Citizen Award
An Indian-origin man in South Africa, has been awarded the prestigious Global Citizen Award for his “innovative and visionary” contribution to the global community. Imtiaz Sooliman was honoured at the end of the 10th annual Global Residence and Citizenship Conference in London. The award consists a specially-made commemorative medal, an award certificate signed by the president.

- Sudanese Wins Prestigious Australian Award
A former child soldier has received one of Australia’s highest civic awards, the 2017 New South WalesAustralian of the Year.Deng Adut has been recognized for helping to combat discrimination and assisting juvenile offenders. The 33-year-old former refugee is a successful criminal lawyer who helps Sudanese migrants. And he is now a contender for a prestigious national award.

- Indian Captain nominated for International ‘Goalkeeper of the year’
Indian men’s hockey captain P.R. Sreejesh has been named as one of the candidates for 2016 Goalkeeper of the Year award of the FIH while Harmanpreet Singh made the grade as one of the 2016 Rising Women Star of the Year nominees. The nominees for the 2016 Hockey Stars Awards, the annual prizes recognising the best players, goalkeepers, rising stars, coaches and umpires in a given calendar year were announced during the Hockey Revolution Part 2 Conference of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) which is currently taking place.

- Himachal Pradesh Launches National Paragliding Championship
Himachal Pradesh is set to host the paragliding world cup at Bir Billing area of Kangra district in October.This was for the first time that world cup is being organised in India. Nine days event would give boost to the sports and tourism activities in the state and the international participants, pilots and other visitors would also be able to witness the majestic beauty of Kangra valley.

- Foundation stone for world’s highest skywalk laid in Sikkim
Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling recently laid the foundation stone of a ropeway and support facilities for the Bhaleydhunga Skywalk Project at Dhapper in Yangang, which once completed, will be the world’s highest skywalk. The Bhaleydhunga Skywalk will be built at a height of 10,300 feet with world class infrastructure and will be the second of its kind in Asia and the first in India.

- November 14 – World Diabetes Day
World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus and is held on November 14 each year. Led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), each World Diabetes Day focuses on a theme related to diabetes. Topics covered have included diabetes and human rights, diabetes and lifestyle, diabetes and obesity, diabetes in the disadvantaged and the vulnerable, and diabetes in children and adolescents.

- World Kindness Day is observed on November 13
World Kindness Day is an international observance on 13 November. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement a coalition of nations kindness NGOs. It is observed in many countries, including Canada, Japan, Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates. In 2009, Singapore observed the day for the first time. Italy and India also observed the day. In the UK it is fronted by David Jamilly co-founded Kindness Day UK.

- US launch high resolution Earth Imaging Satellite
A companion to the world’s most powerful private Earth-imaging satellite rocketed into space today from the U.S. west coast atop an Atlas 5 to double the amount of high-resolution imagery available on the commercial market and satisfy the demands of customers clamoring for more. The 10-year mission of the WorldView 4 satellite began at the United Launch Alliance booster powered away from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California after an extended wait to fly.

- Colombia, FARC rebels ink new peace deal to end 52-year war
Colombia’s government and the Marxist FARC rebels said they agreed on a revised peace deal to end a 52-year war, six weeks after the original was narrowly rejected in a referendum amid objections it was too favorable to the rebels. The government and Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, which have been holding talks in Havana for four years, said they had incorporated proposals from the opposition, religious leaders and others.

- Sydney to host Invictus Games in 2018: Britain’s Prince Harry
Australia will host the 2018 Invictus Games for wounded military personnel, Britain’s Prince Harry announced on November 12. More than 500 serving and former personnel from 17 nations will compete in the multi-sports competition in Sydney. Australia was chosen because it was an iconic city with a proud military heritage and sports-mad fans.

- India signs Civil Nuclear Deal with Japan
India and Japan signed a bilateral civilian nuclear cooperation agreement seen as crucial for energy-starved India to access sensitive technologies to generate clean electricity. The pact is a major achievement for India as it is Japan’s first civilian nuclear cooperation pact with a country that has not signed the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

- Aditi Ashok 1st Indian to win a Ladies European Tour event
Indian teenager Aditi Ashok capped a brilliant show to clinch the Indian Open title , becoming the first woman from the country to claim a European Tour event. The 18-year-old shot an even par-72 in the final round to win the title. Carrying a two-stroke overnight lead, Ashok took her total score to three-under 213, one stroke clear of Brittany Lincicome of the US and Spaniard Belen Mozo who finished tied second.

- Hamilton wins Brazil GP, takes F1 title fight to last race
Lewis Hamilton produced a masterful performance to win a wet, chaotic, crash-strewn Brazilian Grand Prix and take the title fight to the final race. His ninth win of 2016 came in a race with several high-speed accidents, two stoppages and five safety cars. The victory cut the lead of his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, who finished second, to 12 points.
