Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer to win fourth consecutive ATP finals

Novak Djokovic won his fourth consecutive Barclays ATP World Tour Finals title to take his year’s earnings crashing through the $20million (£13.17m) barrier. The Serbian finished his sensational season in style by beating bearded Roger Federer 6-3 6-4 in 80 minutes. It was a re-match of the Wimbledon and US Open finals – and a repeat of the result.

The Swiss’ defeat means Andy Murray will finish the year as world No 2 for the first time and will beShanghai Masters drawn to avoid Djokovic until the Australian Open final in January. That is good news because the world No 1 has looked unstoppable for most of this year.

Djokovic ends his incredible campaign with three Grands Slam, 11 titles and a record of 82 wins and only six defeats. Only his loss in the French Open final to Stan Wawrinka stops his season being indisputably the best of all time. Besides becoming the first man to win four straight titles at the tournament for the top eight players in the world, Djokovic also will finish the season at the No 1 player for the fourth time in five years. He won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, and reached the final at the French Open.

Asked about his ambitions for next season, the world No 1 said: “It has been the best season of my life. I am going to go on holiday and enjoy this season. Give me some time to recharge my batteries and then we will think about next season.

That’s the reason why everyone loves Djokovic 🙂
