National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries of Assam
In today’s era, It has become essential to conserve the wildlife. In the 1960s and 1970s, conservationist demanded a national wildlife protection programme. The Indian wildlife (protection) Act was implemented in 1972 with the aim to conserve and protecting habitat. Here, we have provided details about 10 wildlife sanctuaries.

Fauna: tiger, leopard, sambar, dhole (the Asiatic wild dog), pygmy hog, muntjac, gaur, wild boar, sloth bear, Himalayan black bear, capped langur and Indian giant squirrel. |

78.81 square kilometres | Flora: The park has rich vegetation of forests, natural forest, non-aquatic grass/plants. The forest species found are Bombax ceiba, Dalbergia sissoo.
Fauna: royal Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris), Asiatic elephant, pygmy hog, hog deer and wild boar, It is the only stronghold of rhinoceros on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river. |
