MVKV Prasad appointed as Director of Aeronautical Development Establishment

Scientist MVKV Prasad has been appointed the new Director of Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE). Prasad took charge from MZ Siddique, Director, Gas Turbine Research Establishment, who was holding the additional charge after the superannuation of P Srikumar. ADE is an establishment under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).  ADE is involved in the research of widespread aeronautical technology as well as of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Since its formation in 1959, ADE has been playing an important role in the design & development of a variety of aeronautical systems required by the Indian Armed forces.

  • Aeronautical Development Establishment is Located in Bangalore, its primary function is research and development in the field of military aviation.
  • Recent successful projects by ADE include Lakshya (an aerial target), Nishant (a reconnaissance UAV), flight simulators for (LCA, Ajit, Kiran, Mig-21) and avionics packages for Tejas-LCA.
  • Former Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam began his career at this establishment.
  • ADE became a major partner in Light Combat Aircraft Tejas program and contributed extensively towards development of several critical systems (technologies) such as Digital avionics integration, Engineering simulator for evaluation of flying and handling qualities, Cockpit display system..etc
