With this convincing win against New Zealand, ‘Captain Cool’ registered 108th ODI win under his captaincy and left Australia’s legendary skipper Allan Border (107 wins) behind.
Dhoni is now 2nd most successful ODI captain, first being Australia’s two-time world cup winning skipper Ricky Ponting. Border captained Australia in 178 ODI matches from 1985 to 1994 and won 107 games. Australia lost just 67 games under his leadership.
Dhoni, on the other hand, has led India in 196 ODI matches and won 107 of them. India lost 72 matches under MS Dhoni in the period of 2007-2016.
