Modi laid Foundation Stone of Ambedkar International Center in Delhi

Indian PM Narendra Modi Ji laid the foundation stone of the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in New Dlehi and promised that the NDA government at the center would complete the work within 20 months.
Miniser of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot, MoS Krishan Pal and Vijay Sampla were present on the occasion.

PM Modi paid homage to Dr Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution of India and describing BR Ambedkar as a victim of “political untouchability“. Modi praised Ambedkar for creating powerful Constitutional institutions such as the Election Commission and Finance Commission.

This year marks the 125th birth anniversary year of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (14.04.2015 to 14.04.2016). Modi said Babasaheb Ambedkar represented a combination of Samata (equality) and Mamata (motherly love), which brought about Samrasta (social harmony).

The estimated budget for the four-storeyed international convention centre, museum and library named after Dr BR Ambedkar is Rs 198 crore. The area will be 3.25 acres and it will also have an exhibition on the life of Dr. Ambedkar.

It should be noted that, during VP Singh‘s tenure as Prime Minister, a national committee was set up to celebrate the birth centenary of Ambedkar and the committee had recommended construction of the international centre. Modi expressed his distress over the delay in the initialization of this project.
