Maharashtra CM launches pilot project of e-complaint system

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off a pilot e-complaint project by the Pune Police which enables citizens to file a police complaint from home.

Mr. Fadnavis launched the project by filing an e- complaint with a police station in Nagpur and the concerned police station acknowledged the same within minutes. He launched the project while presiding over the 14th Maharashtra State Police Duty Meet 2016 held at SRPF Grounds in Ramtekdi, Pune.

  • Mr. Fadnavis said, “The Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) is the Centre’s flagship project, but many states did not implement it as seriously as they should have. I am happy that Maharashtra has taken the lead in implementing this system, and put its first police station online in 2015.
  • In the past one year, 1,051 police stations have been connected digitally. Maharashtra has become the first state to go live with CCTNS.”
  • The Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, flagged off 15 mobile forensic vans for quick analysis of evidence. He said Maharashtra is one of the most industrialised states and yet had poor forensic infrastructure. “Our police keep sending samples to forensic labs in other states.
