LIC Ranks Fourth Globally in S&P Global’s 2022 Insurance Report

According to a research by S&P Global Market Intelligence, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has successfully maintained its presence as the fourth-largest insurer in the world.

On the basis of the life and accident and health reserves that corporations have for the year 2022, the ranking was determined.

Rank in the world:

  • The leader is Allianz SE (Germany), which has $750.20 billion in funds.
  • China Life Insurance Company (China): With assets of $616.90 billion, they claim second place.
  • The Nippon Life Insurance Company (Japan) is in third place, with $536.80 billion in funds.
  • Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC): LIC is the fourth largest insurer in the world, with $503.7 billion in funds.

Control of a Region

  • European Companies: Twenty-one of the top fifty life insurance companies in the world are European companies.
  • Leading the list by country, the US has eight life insurance companies based there, making it the country with the most life insurers.
  • Following closely behind, the UK takes second place among individual countries with seven companies in the top 50.

Representation of Asians

  • Overall, Asian companies make a big impression—they’re ranked 17th out of the top 50 life insurance companies in the world.
  • Five companies are based in China and five are based in Japan. These two Asian powerhouses are tied for first place in the area.
