Hungarian writer Laszlo Krasznahorkai has been conferred with the prestigious Man Booker International Prize 2015 at an award ceremony in London. He is the sixth recipient to win this eminent award. He was selected from a list of 10 contenders from around the world. The Man Booker International Prize is awarded once in two years. The prize worth £ 60,000 and it is awarded to a living author of any nationality who has published fiction either in English or in English translation.

Krasznahorkai was born in 1954. His first novel Satantango was published in 1985 in Hungary. This novel had gained him a huge acclaim and it was translated to English in 2012. Krasznahorkai’s other books include The Melancholy of Resistance (1989), War and War (1999), and Seiobo There Below (2008).

The Author was presented with many literary prizes such as Hungarian state cultural honour, the Kossuth prize, and the Best Translated Book award in the US..etc. Other winners of the international Booker include Alice Munro (2009), Philip Roth (2011), and Lydia Davis (2013).
