Kusal Perera handed four year ban for doping

Sri Lankan wicket keeper-batsman Kusal Perera faces a four-year ban after the country’s sports minister said the 25-year-old’s ‘B’ sample has also tested positive for a prohibited substance. The International Cricket Council (ICC) provisionally suspended Perera after he failed an out-of-competition anti-doping.

The 25-year-old was randomly tested during the recent Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka and the just released results were positive, Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement.

“The ICC has informed that his B sample also has been tested positive for a banned drug,” Sri Lanka sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekera told reporters.
