KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT DU) has been honored by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). This recognition, awarded on July 23, 2024, in New York, places KIIT DU among a select group of global institutions dedicated to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Significance of the Award
Out of 476 applications worldwide, only 19 organizations received this award, highlighting KIIT’s significant role in supporting the UN’s Agenda 2030. This recognition enhances KIIT’s reputation and credibility in international education and development projects.
Partnership with UN Volunteers
KIIT has also signed an agreement with UN Volunteers (UNV), allowing its students to work as ‘National University UN Volunteers’. This enables students to participate in development projects with UN agencies, gaining valuable international experience and receiving stipends.
Collaboration with ACYPL
Additionally, KIIT has partnered with the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL). This collaboration aims to promote global understanding and provide exchange programs for students to develop leadership skills and gain diplomatic experience. KIIT’s sister institution, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), has held Special Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC since 2015. With KIIT now receiving this recognition, it becomes the only technical university in India to have this status, showcasing its commitment to high-quality education and social responsibility.
