Kadapa airport to be named after ‘Annamayya’: Raju

The Kadapa airport in Andhra Pradesh will be named after ‘Annamayya’, the famous poet, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju  said. Raju along with Union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu, minister of state for science and technology YS Choudhary and AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the airport.

“Air Pegasus will operate flights for three days between Bangalore and Kadapa. Later flight services will be increased and can be extended to Hyderabad, Chennai and Visakapatnam,” he said.

About The Airport:

  1. The airport has been constructed by the state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) at an investment of Rs 42 crore
  2. Meter Run way: 1.719 Meter long
  3. An Air Pegasus flight from Bengaluru, landed at 11.30 a.m. on its opening day.
  4. The upgraded airport was inaugurated on 7 June 2015.
  5. Andhra Pradesh has provided 520 acres of land to facilitate the development of the airport.
  6. Expansion and upgrading of the airport will be done to handle operations of bigger aircraft, such as an Airbus A320.
