Jayalalitha takes charge as Tamil Nadu CM for the 5th time

AIADMK general secretary Jayaraman Jayalalitha has sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the fifth time. The party cadres and supporters are all celebrating all over the state. Jayalalitha returns to power after eight months as she was forced to quit over corruption charges.

Governor K Rosaiah gave oath to Jayalalitha and 28 others were sworn in as Ministers at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium. Actor Rajinikanth, ICC Chairman N. Srinivasan and Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan attended the ceremony.

Jayalalitha was convicted and sentenced for four years by Karnataka trial court in the Rs 66.66 crore disproportionate assets case. The Karnataka High Court had subsequently released her of the charges on May 11. Jayalalitha is popularly referred to as Puratchi Thalaivi (Revolutionary Leader) or AMMA by her followers.
