ISRO to partner with Delhi Police to track crime

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will enter into a partnership with Delhi Police, in which it will help develop a mechanism to facilitate “predictive policing” and “live crime mapping”. The system will provide real-time information from crime spots and identify gang activities. Personal Digital Assistant devices will be given to officials, that can store data of over two lakh criminals.

The system will enable real time information at the crime spot and the system will be able to convert any call into a digital message with the location of the caller being flashed through global positioning system. Essentially, through this system police will be able to identify areas which has mass gathering, chain snatching, etc, using coordinates and GPS information.
