Tobago batsman Iraq Thomas has created a record by scoring 21-ball century in the Tobago Cricket Association’s T20 tournament at Louis D’or.Chasing Speyside’s target of 152, Thomas bludgeoned 131 off 31 balls to finish off the contest in just eight overs. Thomas hit 15 sixes and five fours in his hurricane innings that put to shade Gayle’s 30-ball century for Royal Challengers Bangalore in a 2013 Indian Premier League match against now defunct Pune Warriors India owned by the Sahara group. He slammed 15 sixes and five boundaries during his knock.
During his innings he cleared the park thrice and the umpires were forced to bring new balls. The record for the fastest Test century is held by former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum. He smashed a hundred off 54 balls against Australia earlier this year.
South Africa’s AB de Villiers holds the record for the quickest century in ODIs. He took 31 balls to score a century against the West Indies in 2015. Now Iraq Thomas has beaten them all to create a piece of history.
