The Election Commission of India will hold the first ever International Conference on Voter Education in New Delhi. The topic of the Conference is Voter Education for Inclusive, Informed and Ethical Participation.The Conference will be inaugurated by the Chief Election Commissioner Dr Nasim Zaidi.
- The Conference is being organized with an aim to share best practices, policies and initiatives of voter education by election management bodies. 27 countries and 5 international organizations are participating in the three day event.
- The Conference also aims at achieving a resolution to strengthen inclusive, informed and ethical electoral participation among member countries with the help of voter education and outreach.
- It will deliberate upon five topics ranging from Electoral Literacy to Enhanced participation by special categories of voters, Role of Information Communication Technology in Voter Education and Strategies for Informed and Ethical Voting.
- The Conference will see the launch of the ambitious project of VoICE.NET a Global Knowledge Network on voter education. An exhibition showcasing Voter Education tools and materials is also being organized on the occasion.
