Indore and Surat received the cleanest cities award of the country – Cleanliness Survey

Indore and Surat were named the cleanest places in the country for cities with more than one lakh people today by the Cleanliness Survey-2023.

This award has been given to Indore for the seventh year in a row. Navi Mumbai came in third place in the same group. At Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu gave out the “Swachh Survekshan -2023 awards.”

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and other officials were there.

Along with Lonavala in Maharashtra, Sasvad in Maharashtra and Patan in Chhattisgarh were named the three cleanest cities in the group of less than one lakh people.

At the same time, Maharashtra won the award for cleanest state, followed by Madhya Pradesh in second place and Chhattisgarh in third. When it comes to cleanliness, Varanasi and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh won first and second place.

In his speech to the crowd, President Draupadi Murmu said that the Swachh Bharat Mission had become a mass movement in the country with a lot of help from the national government and other groups.

According to her, the Swachh Bharat goal also helps millions of people make a living within the goal. President Murmu also thanked the “Safaimitra” for volunteering for the Swachh Bharat Mission and said it was an honor for them to help.

She also told the young people of India that they should work to make their country the cleanest in the world.

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke at the event and said that the Swachh Survekshan visited one lakh sites in 4,447 cities and got replies from 12 crore people.

He said that only 15% to 16% of trash was properly processed in 2014, but now 76% of trash is being processed.

Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, told Akashvani News that he was pleased that Indore had won the award for cleanest city for the seventh year in a row.

Vishnu Deo Sai, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, told Akashvani News that the state has won 67 Swachh Survekshan Awards since the awards began in 2017. He also said that Chhattisgarh’s third-place finish in the state category was a great day.
