Indian-origin Priti Patel gets British cabinet rank

UK’s Prime Minister David Cameron has promoted Indian-origin MP Priti Patel by making her the new Minister of State for Employment. Priti Patel was re-elected from Witham by securing 58% of the votes in the May 7 general election. Priti was previously a junior Treasury minister from July 2014 to May 2015.

Priti will also carry on in her honorary role as the British Prime Minister’s Indian Diaspora Champion. Other important announcement is Pakistani-origin Sajid Javid has been movd from Culture Secretary to Secretary of State for Business.
