India’s star golfer Anirban Lahiri created history by finishing tied for fifth at the PGA Championship. It is the first time an Indian golfer has finished in the top-five of one of golf’s four Majors. Lahiri played a superb final round of 68, after three rounds of 70-67-70, for a total of 13-under 275. In fact, at one stage, he rose to as high as tied third during the day.
- Lahiri helped India win the team silver medal in the Asian Games in 2006.
- He established himself in the sub-continent by winning for the first time on the PGTI Tour in 2009.
- Lahiri then broke through on the Asian Tour in 2011, winning the Panasonic Open India.
- He won the SAIL Open in 2012 and also in 2013.
- He won his first Asian Tour title outside of the India at the 2014 CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters.
- Lahiri broke into the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in March 2014.
