Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri creates history by finishing tied fifth in PGA Championship

India’s star golfer Anirban Lahiri created history by finishing tied for fifth at the PGA Championship. It is the first time an Indian golfer has finished in the top-five of one of golf’s four Majors. Lahiri played a superb final round of 68, after three rounds of 70-67-70, for a total of 13-under 275. In fact, at one stage, he rose to as high as tied third during the day.

  • Lahiri helped India win the team silver medal in the Asian Games in 2006.
  • He established himself in the sub-continent by winning for the first time on the PGTI Tour in 2009.
  • Lahiri then broke through on the Asian Tour in 2011, winning the Panasonic Open India.
  • He won the SAIL Open in 2012 and also in 2013.
  • He won his first Asian Tour title outside of the India at the 2014 CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters.
  • Lahiri broke into the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in March 2014.
